Daily Record in America
The United States of America, the only superpower in the world, is a country of more than 200 years’ history. My impression towards America only came from books and the internet. However, during this summer vacation, I had this great opportunity to personally appreciate the elegant demeanor of the world’s leading power.
After the 12-hour flight, we arrived in a whole new world from the magic Orient over the Pacific Ocean. Each and every one of us demonstrated boosting morale, seizing every minute and second to experience the exoticism at the moment.
Los Angeles, the City of Angels, was the place we camped in. There were not high buildings, large mansions, feasting or revelry in this city. Instead, she only had blue sky, white clouds, rolling hills as well as leisure and comfort in people’s heart. The second day we arrived at Los Angeles, we got to ‘the Happiest Place in the World’ --Disneyland. With the music ‘Beauty and the Beast’, we strolled in the street as if we were in the early 1900s in America. At Disneyland, everyone’s face was full of smiles, because you would forget all your sadness and annoyance here.
The third day here in Los Angeles, we reached the Universal Studios Hollywood, which placed us in the movie scenes one after another. One time we were students in Hogwarts, fighting against Quidditch with Harry. Another time we were the Minions, preparing a birthday party for Glew. What’s more, we even played the Walking Dead three times in a row, experiencing the Zombie Apocalypse.
The fourth day in Los Angeles, we finally greeted our beautiful campus life, which was my long-awaited native American life. We studied at school, facing different things every day. Professors focused on the cultivation of students’ character and interest, what they reflected on and learned during the class activities instead of paying attention to students’ performance in a literal way. Their teaching criterion could be described as ‘Never Let Any One Student Drop Out’. Thus, it was this perseverance that enabled the United States of America to own a formidable armed force comprising elites with particular talents. I think the most distinctive trait here is freedom. Students can do whatever they want to extend their individuality. Furthermore, there were arrays of cultural shirts printed in Obama cartoon images at shops everywhere. Also, it was not strange that variety shows put on programs featured in Donald Trump. In the evening, we went back to our host family. A beautiful and humorous lady named Sandy received us. She was full of smiles and enjoyed her life in that every morning before going out, she would say ‘Have a good day!’ to us; every time after dinner, she would say ‘Yummy!’, which made me realize that her biggest interest lay in her own life. However, after five days that we spent together day and night, we were about to leave this City of Angles. Each of us was reluctant to part, but we believed that we would definitely come back here once again.
What’s more, evidently, people living in New York were abnormally laborious. Nonetheless, they always kept smiling because of the city which they love and hate in the meantime. After all, this is New York!
In a nutshell, in America, I figure what I learnt was not just the knowledge itself, but American people’s positive and optimistic attitude toward life. Only a nation of optimism, persistence and fearlessness can create a glorious history. Therefore, we smile at the United States of America while she smiles at the world!
